Obituary for Frances Virginia Philbrook (Eddy)

THOMASTON - Frances V. Philbrook, 83, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Born in Camden, February 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Frederick and Grace Chadwick Eddy. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Camden High School.
Following high school Frances married Donald ‘Hefty’ Philbrook in Rockland. The couple made their home in Camden most of their married life before moving to Thomaston. Mr. Philbrook passed away in 2006.
While living in Camden, Frances was a fixture on Main Street. For many years she was employed with Boynton McKay.
More recently, Frances enjoyed giving of her time as a volunteer at Pen Bay Medical Center. She was a member and Past President of Women’s Club.
Always one to keep active, Mrs. Philbrook enjoyed knitting, cooking and was a veracious reader. She took great pleasure in and will be sorely missed by her constant companion, her cat ‘Ripley’.
Predeceased by her husband, and a sister Priscilla Emery; Mrs. Philbrook is survived by her son, Mark Philbrook and his husband, Nathan Goldberg of Thomaston; and a niece Amy Arthur of Cushing.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2012 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knox County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.
