Family Time Capsule

Where will you be in the year 2050?

No one can say for sure if they will be in Rockland, Maine come 2050.  However, the memories, stories, and philosophies of those who participated in the Family Time Capsule project created by the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home will certainly be around.

THE PROJECT
On December 5, 1999 a sealed waterproof vault was buried at Achorn Cemetery in Rockland.  This was no ordinary burial vault, though.  This vault contained many personalized Memory Packages containing family stories, words of wisdom for future generations, family genealogies, along with special photographs.  

Families from all over the Midcoast region of Maine were encouraged to put together their own Memory Package in order to create a priceless keepsake for their descendants.  The project was a success with 78 families participating.

THE FUTURE
On December 4, 2050 at two o'clock in the afternoon, the Memory Vault will be disinterred, opened and the Memory Packages distributed.  Think about how much change the past 50 years have brought.  Who knows what the next 50 years will bring.  Whatever it may be, we're sure it will be exciting to reflect on 
"The Good Ol' Days".
